Having made the natural progression from working as a successful music producer/DJ to music journalism, with articles published weekly in London newspapers, his screenwriting debut, a sitcom entitled VIA BANK, was optioned by Emmy award winning producer Allan McKeown (‘Birds Of A Feather’, ‘Lovejoy’), the first time Allan had ever optioned an unsolicited script.
Adriel’s directorial debut, comedy mockumentary BLOODY LIP (which he also wrote, produced and edited), won the award for Best Ensemble at the LA Comedy Festival, received its world premiere at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival in New York City, its South American premiere at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Buenos Aires, and was selected as the closing film of the British Urban Film Festival. It was also a finalist in the NexTV Entertainment Competition and received a Best Mockumentary nomination at Hollywood’s Mockfest Film Festival, as well as featuring in eight additional competitions and festivals.
His second film THE BALLAD OF JOHNNY WINDOWS won the award for Best Mockumentary at the LA Comedy Festival and also received its world premiere at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival, its South American premiere at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Buenos Aires, and its UK premiere at the British Urban Film Festival.
His third film BREAKING BRITAIN has been selected for the 2015 British Urban Film Festival and is on track to repeat the successes of the previous two films.
Adriel’s original feature screenplay INNER BULL was selected as a winner of the 2014 British Urban Film Festival Scriptwriting Competition, and was therefore granted a live reading at the Channel 4 building in front of representatives from Film4, a performance that was extremely well received.
He has gone on to have several more original screenplays optioned by experienced producers, and also has a TV documentary in development with BAFTA award winners Raw TV.
